Last summer Manien and I were interviewed about True Loves for the CBC radio show North by Northwest. You can listen to the interview over here.

Why am I drawing Hawkgirl and friends? We were having breakfast yesterday, and I was watching the birds and got thinking, as I do sometimes, about what it would be like if people came in as varied sizes as birds. So you would have your sparrow sized person, then four times as big would be your robin sized person, and then several times bigger than them the crow sized person, who would be like as tall as a house. So I was trying to apply that to the superheroes here. And then how big would a human be, compared to say a Black Canary?
I did a short story on this idea for Don’t Touch Me once.
I did another Page 100 Project page, from Nicholson Baker’s “The Fermata” You can see it over here until I get a proper venue set up for these.
As I did this drawing, I felt like I had attempted the exact same drawing in the past. With similarly unsatisfactory results. Oh well! On the other hand it did get me thinking about how I love a good evocative setting, and a place where everyone in the town is a specific character (see also: Twin Peaks).
Phil McAndrew is having a contest, getting people to draw a scene from a movie. So I chose Punchdrunk Love. I am only sort of happy with how it came out. Very much like what is in my head, but sort of blah as a drawing. Oh well!
I burned a cd of a music mix I had been fiddling with the past couple of weeks this morning. I’m pretty happy with it, nice and peppy. I called it “Gimme Springtime” completely forgetting that today is the equinox! So it was a most appropriate day to drop it. Happy spring everyone!
Oh also, I did a first run at the Page 100 Project, which you can read over here for now.
Also, I took a fairly flawed panorama of the view from the school, across the road from my house.
The first episode of Twin Peaks, they are still setting stuff up. But boy just some classic stuff, and the perfect settings and all. I could have drawn something from every single scene!
First we have Donna, in a hockey jersey, having a heart to heart with her Mom.
Then Nadine is established. She had such a great demented tragic vibe in this scene.
And Leo. The drawing didn’t turn out that great, but boy that scene. That unfinished house.
Some impulse to sabotage everything I do made me draw Harriet. Of all the many characters of Twin Peaks, I draw Donna’s sister, who never appears again… But she should have! She was very funny and cute.
Yeah, I watched some of the Twin Peaks pilot as I ate dinner. So good. So so good.
I was puttering around ffffound the other day, and came across a photo of David Bowie from Fire Walk with Me. I have been getting the Twin Peaks hankering something fierce recently, but seem to have so many other shows to watch. Anyways I tried to draw him.
