Comix and Stories

Sunday, August 29th, 2010

I  always forget to mention my “appearances” here! I am going to be at Comix and Stories tomorrow. I will even have a new issue of my minicomic Vinegar, a collection of short stories, including two never seen anywhere before! I will have them available for purchase online too at some point soon.

Come On Pilgrim!

Oh also, I got to see a preview of Scott Pilgrim and it was so much fun. Funny and exuberant! I loved the comic (just read the final book the week before the movie), and they did such a great job with the cast and capturing the kooky vibe of the books. As a bonus for me it was set in the Toronto I lived in during and post-university, and so it is like a movie of that period of my life too.

Links and rants

A brief rant: I do not skateboard, but it seems like a waste of money to put big signs on the main drag/hill here in North Vancouver saying “SKATEBOARDING ON LONSDALE IS ILLEGAL AND YOU WILL BE FINED” like that is really that big a problem? I have seen two fender benders in the past month, no skateboarders involved. The bad drivers of North Van seem like a bigger issue to me, but then I am biased against cars.

Anyhow, here is another Page 100:
Bruce Otter takes on Illuminatus!, by Robert Shea and Robert Anton Wilson.

And here is a page from my July comics for my YEAR 40 Project. Last month I decided to try to draw a comic’s worth of pages in one weekend. It mostly worked. You can follow along as they appear here.
